Oshawa's impoverished: searching for solutions, breaking stigma and shunning statistics

This story was part of my first investigative series for The Oshawa Express. I'd been covering the issues affecting tenants in the southern parts of Oshawa for several months and written many articles. Eventually, the activism got the attention of city hall who sent a collection of bylaw officers to deal with landlords who were leaving their buildings in states of decay.
This story was part of my collection was named as runner-up for best investigative news series by the Ontario Community Newspapers Association in 2016.
