Linda Jeffrey on the seven deadly words in politics

"People say they like change, but they actually don't; they don't mean that kind of change," she says.

My first real feature for The Pointer - Brampton. Ahead of the municipal election campaign I spent some time with the incumbent mayor to get to know her and what her plans were if she won another term as Brampton’s mayor.

The previous council in Brampton had been mired in controversy and was basically useless for much of the latter part of their tenure. Naturally, that was a topic of our lengthy discussion, but I also delved into some more personal topics with the career politician, including her lengthy battle with MS.

I also made the portraits to go along with this piece. Our interview was held at Jeffrey’s campaign office, which was under construction, so not too photogenic, so I needed to get creative. I took these portraits though the front window of the office to try and get a different element to the image. I think the effect works well! Here are a few others that didn’t make the cut.
